Description
SOK is an exciting new battery to the market, these remarkably affordable batteries have been reviewed and tested by electrical genius Will Prouse and passed his seal of approval.
SOK batteries offer an amazing value relative to the amount of quality and features you receive in this battery (they are the definition of bang for your buck). At a price well below competitor batteries, it’s mind boggling how they are able to include all the features below.
These batteries are a great option for the budget conscious build. Josh likes to compare his battery brands to car brands…if Lithionics is Rolls Royce and Victron is Mercedes Benz, then SOK is a very reliable (and good looking) Hyundai where you get premium features like a metal case, Bluetooth connectivity and integrated heater at a value price.
These batteries are designed for all season camping. They can safely charge at temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F) and feature in integrated heater that draws power from the battery itself when necessary. Note: the heater pads can only be used in 12 volt systems – not when the batteries are connected in series for 24/48 volt systems.
Bluetooth Connectivity
Monitor your batteries on iOS or Android devices by searching for the ABC-BMS app. Be advised that the state of charge (SOC) shown on the app is inaccurate until the battery calibrates by going through two full charge and discharge cycles. Specifications
Charge Information:
- Recommended Charge Current 56 A
Note that this very conservative (.2C) recommended charge current from SOK is to fully maximize the lifespan of the battery. In simple terms, the more gentle/slow the charge the more cycles you’ll get from the batteries, and given, SOK’s long warranty period, you can see why they’re being so conservative. However, the “maximum charge” that the BMS/battery can sustain is much higher. We know of many installers who charge these batteries at higher current without issue but they may be reducing battery life to some extent. - Maximum Charge Current 120 A
- Recommended Charge Voltage 14.6 V (14.4 V minimum)
- Float Voltage Float 13.8 V preferred (13.6 V minimum)
Discharge Information:
- Maximum Continuous Discharge Current 200 A
- Peak Discharge Current 250 A (7.5 s ±2.5 s)
- Recommended Low Voltage Disconnect 10.4V
